ASDM gives you a way to get a better idea about the humidity and light levels in your building. As a membership benefit, ASDM offers its institutional members the opportunity to check out and use an environmental monitoring kit for 90 days at a time. The kit includes a psychrometer for checking relative humidity levels and a light meter, along with instructions for their use. Light meters can cost well over $500, more than many small museums can afford. This kit lets ASDM organzations use quality equipment at no cost. A $50 deposit is required before the equipment is sent out, and fully refunded when the equipment is returned.|
In the past few years the Environmental Monitoring Kit has been used by the Dakota Discovery Museum in Mitchell, the Smith-Zimmermann Museum in Madison, and the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science in Sioux Falls.
