Civilian Conservation Corps Museum of South Dakota
3935 Hwy 385 Box 209 Hill City, South Dakota 57745 605-574-2660 The Civilian Conservation Corps existed from 1933 to 1942 as a work-relief program. Men were given housing, food, clothing, healthcare, on the job training, and educational opportunities. In South Dakota they worked in forests, parks, on soil conservation and erosion control, fought fires, and constructed bridges and building that remain as legacies to their work. The museum is an honor to the men and their history is shown in exhibits consisting of memorabilia and photos, most donated by their families.
